From our experience

In 11 years of experience, Walter AEC dealt with many cases of BIM Consulting and Engineering. One particularly interesting case is that of the Hyatt Regency Maraska Zadar Hotel.

D&Z., ZadarZadar chose Walter AEC as BIM consultants and developers for the creation of a BIM model and BIM project management. The second and most difficult challenge in this project was to turn a preliminary design into a model and then build the Detailed Design project with D&Z as lead architects. The BIM project grew over time, beginning with the production of a BIM model of the existing component of the old manufacturing building, which was built in 1911.

Some of the issues we overcame as a result of our BIM implementation in this project were:

  • Meeting tight deadlines,
  • Several alterations to the project were made during its execution as a result of the design being reconciled with the hotel operator’s specifications,
  • Addressing the requirements of HVAC and structural designers,
  • Detecting design flaws, which was crucial given the project’s complexity.

Because problems were found early in the design process, the BIM model saved money and time during the design phase as well as during construction. The project is worth around 120 million euros and is set to be completed in 3 years.
